Term 2
This term we are going to be focusing on space.
In science, we’ll learn about Earth and space — what our planet and atmosphere are made of, and how human actions can change the climate. We’ll explore gravity, the Sun, Moon, and stars, and how they affect seasons and day length. We’ll also investigate magnets, their poles, and how magnetic forces work.
We will be continuing this theme in Geography where we will be learning about the earth and its atmosphere in more depth.
In English, we will be learning about persuasive writing and poetry. We’ll explore how writers use words to influence and inspire their readers. We’ll also create our own persuasive pieces and poems, using language and rhythm to share our ideas creatively.

Term 1
This half term we shall be learning about World War 2.
In English we have read Rose Blanche, which links to our history topic, and focused on the use of description within our writing. We have learnt about similes, metaphors and personification and created some brilliant examples of our own. To end the term we wrote a monologue from the perspective of Rose's mother, I have been blown away by the level of effort we put into these!
In Maths we focused our place value knowledge and focusing on mastering our addition and subtraction methods. We have now moved onto our times tables. It would be great to be practising these at home as knowing these facts will help us to start completing harder sums!
In Science we have explored the three states of matter; solids, liquids and gasses and used experiments to learn how these states can be changed. We have practised planning an experiment before carrying it out and learnt how to write a scientific conclusion. We have begun to go over to the science lab to complete some of our experiments, learning how to use equipment safely and correctly.
We will also be studying Judaism and Religious Studies, learning about river formation in Geography, Pop art in Art and about different forms of coding in Computing.
Throughout the term we have been adding to our KWL (Know, Want to learn and Learnt) grid with our WW2 knowledge. We have now answered all of the questions that we had!
