Polaris - Mr Hare's Crew
Welcome to Year 11
We are really pleased to welcome you to Mr Hare's crew page.
We are Polaris which is the fixed star in the Northern sky. It symbolises guidance, constancy and direction.
Polaris is the brightest star in the constellation and is readily visible to the naked eye.
Polaris (also known as he North Star or Pole Star) is famous for holding nearly still in our sky while the entire northern sky moves around it. That’s because it’s located very close to the North celestial pole: the point around which the entire northern sky turns. This also makes it useful for navigation.
Year 11 is an important year for us and just like Polaris we hope to provide guidance, constancy and direction

Our First Two Weeks
The beginning of the new school year has been an opportunity for us to get back together and begin the next stage of our learning journey.
In English we are beginning to explore 'An Inspector Calls' by J B Priestly. In the play a wealthy family are visited by a mysterious inspector following the death of a young woman. It explores themes of social responsibility and morality. Alongside this, students will continue to strengthen and develop their knowledge and confidence in Maths and Science. We will also continue with our options from last year, including Cooking, Travel and Tourism, Public Services and PE.
Most importantly, our opening weeks are about becoming a Crew. Through activities, challenges and shared experiences, we will learn more about each other and begin building the positive relationships that will support us throughout the year. As part of this we will be going on our Residential to the Peak District in September and for an away day in team building to Wild Pines in October.
