Mr Hare's Crew
Mr Hare, Miss Rook and Miss Scott.
Welcome to Year 10 - Term 3!
We are really pleased to welcome you to Mr Hare's crew page.
Our crew is called Polaris which is the fixed star in the Northern sky. It symbolises guidance, constancy and direction.
You will find below the information on what we will be studying for each subject in the third term of Year 10.
The year so far has been a great success for the class. There were many highlights including a trip to the workhouse as part of our study of 'A Christmas Carol' in English. In enrichment pupils decorated our windows with Autumn scenes and have designed and carved their own pumpkins.
Our crew team is:
Mr Hare – Crew Teacher
Miss Rook – Teaching Assistant
Miss Scott – Teaching Assistant
Together, we support students to feel safe, happy, and ready to achieve their best.
What we are learning this term -
English
Students will be studying Macbeth by William Shakespeare, developing their understanding of character, theme, and plot. Alongside this, functional skills learning will continue to be built into lessons, helping students develop practical reading, writing, and communication skills.
Maths
In Maths we will be focusing on ratio, proportion and scale factors in the first half of this term. In the second part of the term we will be studying angles, bearings and Pythagoras’ theorem.
Science
In Science pupils will be studying chemistry to include atomic structure and the periodic table.
Creative Media
Last term, students filmed their short films, which was fantastic to see. This term, they will be taking the footage they captured and editing and building it into their final films, developing technical skills and creativity.
Cooking
Cooking lessons continue to give students the opportunity to explore practical life skills, creativity, and healthy living.
RSHE
This term, RSHE will focus on mental health, exploring strategies to promote positive mental wellbeing and resilience. Lessons provide a safe space for discussion, reflection, and skill-building.
GCSEs and BTECs
Year 10 students continue their Key Stage 4 journey, working towards GCSEs, BTECs, and Entry Level awards. Teachers will continue to support students’ progress and share details of assessments and deadlines.
Choosing Time
Choosing Time is an important part of our nurture approach, giving students the
chance to develop social skills, responsibility, and independence. Activities this term
will include:
Board games
Crafting and creative projects
Working on different lego projects
Football and other outdoor activities later in the term
We are looking forward to a positive and successful term ahead!
